Subtitles are selected for Home User as Always Enabled, but it never selects subtitles. Only works for Admin Account

Basically as the title says. I created a Home User for my TV. I have it setup exactly the same way as my admin account, but for some reason it never auto selects the subtitles for me. It works for my main account, but none of the Home User accounts seem to work. If anyone know of a fix, please that would be awesome, I watch everything with subtitles and its very annoying to have to select it every time.

Server Version#: Latest Update (but hasn’t work for a while)
Player Version#:

Which Plex app and version?

Plex app: Web, Roku, Windows 10 all updated to the latest version (not sure of the number at the moment)

Where can I get this information?

I am having much the same problem and my server is also Windows 10 Server Version 1.18.3.2156

No problem getting subtitles to be on by default for the Admin account but the managed user account won’t do it (all the same options set under account “Audio & Subtitles Settings”).

Same issue with various clients e.g. Roku 4K Steaming Stick +, Apple TV 4K, LG TV and Chrome browser.

With the managed user it says 1 subtitle is typically available but you have to select it for every program you want to watch.

Files are typically mkv.

Any ideas? a bug in the server software perhaps?

WebClient, Switch to that user, and then select Account

Has to be set for each user individually

Account settings set for each account but they do not seem to work for the managed user.

Works fine for me with WebClient and Samsung TV

Are your subs marked with proper language id?
(As in mymovie.en.srt )

The same actual programs by default will play with subtitles enabled for me with the admin account but not for the other account. Most if not all of my files were made with the MakeMKV program.

I have tried various combinations of settings and followed the link from that page which shows incorrect information with one less option than is avaialble.

dane22, are you also using the same Windows 10 server software?

It’s a known server bug which has been already found and fixed. But the fix is still in the “release pipeline” and will reach you with one of the next server updates.

Until then, there is a workaround which involves directly editing the plex database:

Thank you very much, I thought I was going crazy. I’ll be on the look out for the updates.

I still can’t get subtitles to be on by default for Managed Users even with today’s update Plex Media Server 1.18.4.2171

I tried toggling the settings for the user off and on but it did not seem to help.

Is this issue still on the to-do list to get fixed or am I doing something wrong?

1.18.4 was released before the fix was made. This version has already been a few weeks in alpha and beta testing.
