I have multiple merged versions of LOTR. The remux one has PGS subtitles but they don’t show up when I play it. Yes, I am clicking “Play version” and selecting it.
Subtitles only show up when I split apart the files but that isn’t convenient.
Any workaround? Playing media on a Nvidia Shield TV.
If I am to understand correctly, you have LOTR, and because the Extended editions were split across multiple disks, you have used MKV Toolnix or some other software to append the video inside the same container?
And for that file that’s created, the subtitles do not work at all?
The file and subtitles are fine but because I have a remux (with subtitles in container) and a low bitrate version (no subtitles). When I play the remux version, Plex doesn’t show me subtitle options. The only way I can get it to work is to split apart the versions inside Plex and have it be 2 movies instead of one.
Ahh, ok… that makes a bit more sense… I am unsure why it’s doing that though, I don’t have anything here I can test against currently… You might try to demux the subtitle track and place it in the same folder with the same naming scheme (just don’t forget the language code at the end) and see if it works that way… I don’t know why this would work when the one in the container wouldn’t, but it’s worth a try
