I have the latest version of the Plex server software. Sometimes, when I am searching for subtitles, an error message shows up saying something went wrong. I’ll retry, and I’ll still get the same message. It doesn’t happen each time I search; but when it does, is there a workaround?
I am still having the problem in the search for subtitles in OpenSubtitles. The message just says “Something went wrong” in the search, but it doesn’t tell me what. This happens with the Plex app that comes with the Tivo box that comes with our cable subscription, and it also happens with the Plex app on the Roku 4. It’s frustrating because it doesn’t happen every time, but I can’t pin down the circumstances that cause the error. Seems random. Is anybody else getting this error when you search OpenSubtitles?
Yep. It randomly fails to download anything (or even list subtitles available for download). Sometimes it works a few minutes later, sometimes it doesn’t.
I thought it was related to OpenSubtitles being down - but it is 100% not that. The last few times I got this error, I just went and grabbed the subtitles directly.
How do you grab the subtitles directly? ![]()
I go to OpenSubtitles.com and bring them down manually, name them properly, then put them in with the title I’m going to watch. Crap solution, but it works in a pinch.
Thanks, I’ll give it a try. ![]()
But do you have any idea why this is happening? Can we get them to fix it?
Any updates yet?
No, no updates on this issue. It’s still as frustrating as ever. Sometimes, I can close the Plex app on my TV and start again, and it will work then. But not always. I am still hoping this catches the eye of some programmers who can fix it.
