After I had a clash with staff I started to use the APP for windows (PLEX)(again) and after a few days I thought that I had time for a movie. So I started it and went to search for subtitles, did found a few, so I tried them. After a few seconds the subs were gone, so I went back to settings and saw that the remark behind subtitles was empty???
That is weird? I had selected one, I cannot select it now, so I try another, play the movie again from pause, and again after ten seconds or so, the subs were gone. Keep repeating this process until the 2 hour movie is over? or make a topic about it, but I could only find related to non windows pc’s that uses the windows app.
Oh, and then I started the disputed way of watching movies from a plex server, the WEB-BASED PLEX VIEWER, or just type the ip adres of your server in the bar in Chrome and you can watch your content, without the subs going away…
Now, it was not me that said that the plex-app was not in too good shape, but hey, you guys knows best…
It was not an aprils fool joke, it is real and annoying. Now I wonder how, when and if they recognize the problem, if anyone else has this, it is not only with new but also with content that is over 10 years old.
I think not providing any of the info matters a bit, as I stated that the plex app is not perfect. So, webbased viewing it is, again…
Very few topics are ever actually acknowledged here, like yourself I posted about a casting bug that breaks casting and flinging about 3 weeks ago now, no reply or acknowledgement despite other users also reporting the same issue and tagging a mod/admin of this sub forum.
I’ve also experienced your issue, doesn’t always happen have had it happen, another one for me is subs being displayed too quickly (out of sync) but that could be more of a problem with the subs themselves.
Sadly yes, I recognize them Plexers are a bit absent when it comes to helping or even recognizing.
About the subs you said, it is true that not all movies or series have this problem, but when it does, we can’t find anything what is causing this, it has no effect if I put another audio stream (if there is any) or any conversion method to try to solve this. All actions within the Windows App (not the HTPC) I have tried failed whatsoever.
My understanding is that the problem lies with the app itself, as clearly visible the chosen sub from download is grayed and switched off, choosing another sub makes it act the same - it turns off after a few seconds, go to settings and see the last chosen one is grayed-out and the one before is available again -.
This interactions shows that not the subs are at fault, because when I go to the web based player, the one they say not to use when server uses up cpu utilization, yet, that same content with that same subs, runs fine.
About subs walking away? I had this too often too, annoying yes, but it would be handy if there was a keystroke or even a small menu in either the top or bottom of the screen to push it seconds forwards or backwards. Now we pull the menu up and it blocks half the screen, not a wise choice if I may say so.
