Subtitles in iOS app when playing OTA (recorded or otherwise) programming?

Playing w/ Plex DVR ( so far so great!) I observed that when I was watching Recorded or Live (via the HDHRViewerV2.bundle) via the Plex iOS app (either release or beta) I’ve noticed that the subtitles are always playing.

When I watch it on my other devices (Samsung TV, Roku, Apple TV) there are no subtitles. This an iOS app issue? Is there something I might have turned on in the iOS app?

Also, I was showing my wife how cool the DVR was and she asked if shows we’re recordable via the the TV (i.e. Samsung). I’ll assume this feature will come later if not, this isn’t very ‘wife friendly’.

I only have this problem now with the apple tv 4 app. I have the playback options with a subtitle toggle option on my iphone but the same playback option on the apple tv does not have the subtitle toggle so I am assuming thats the issue, its on by default and there is no option to turn it off. As for now all live tv from the newest version of apple tv 4 app always has subtitles I cannot turn off.
