Subtitles not showing anymore

Server Version#: 1.16.5.1554
Player Version#:any device

My PMS does not see the .srt files anymore. On the samsung tv app, webplayer and the iPad. Anyone else having issues?

Server platform?
If Unix-based, how are the access permissions?
How does the file name of a subtitle compare to the file name of the associated video file?
Are ‘Local Media Assets’ activated for all agents?

I run the server on my windows 10 PC. The name of the .srt file is the same as the name of the .mkv file. Yes Local Media Assets are activated.

Have you checked for differences in upper/lower casing?
(yes, even if this is on Windows)

Please post the contents of the Plex XML info of an affected video.

Yes they are the same.

I have the same issue.

Please provide the mediainfo XML

I have same issue, the subtitle for some movies/series don´t work.

Hi this is what the xml file says:

Nieuw tekstdocument.txt (3.3 KB)

OK, this is a tv show episode and it shows that it has recognized at least one external subtitle.
How is your subtitle file named? (precisely, including upper/lower casing)

Is your tv show library pointing exactly at Z:\Media\Series
(and not one folder level above, nor below it?)

May I have a copy of the subtitle file? (zip it, then you can attach it here)

Ok I something weird happened. I saw that the .srt file showed the extension, and the .mkv file did not. So I thought that’s strange. So I clicked the “show extension” button, and refreshed my plex webpage, and now it works again.

Also I did install an update half an hour ago, and clicked update libraries…

I don’t know what did it, but my problem is solved.

Thanks for your help!

If you want it perfect, change the file name extension of the subtitle file
from .srt to
.dut.srt
or .eng.srt
(depending on whether your subtitle file contains Dutch or English text.)

Thank you!
