Hi I have my Plex running on my Synology ds920 which has 12gb ram. Watching movies on own network with subtitles works perfectly. However, when playing off my Plex on an outside network, and running subtitles, it buffers a lot. Is there a fix? Video and audio is showing as direct play but as soon as I turn subtitles on, it shows as transcoding…

- Use a Client device which can play subtitles untranscoded.
- When streaming outside your network, there are by default certain bandwidth limits in the various plex apps. Make sure they are set to above the actual bandwidth of the video.

The bandwidth limit for remote connections is a setting in each Plex client.
Without knowing which plex client type you are using, I cannot point you to the right spot.
