Subtitles showing or not showing only one way or other?

Hi,

 

I'm very very new to this and have only just discovered plex which im trying out on my PS4, so far its awesome but im having some issues with subtitles and im hoping someone may be able to offer an answer?

 

Basically i have now worked out how to get subtitles and every film in my server has the option to display subtitles, my issue is that its not just displaying subtitles when a foreign audio is played. for example 3-4 mins in to Robocop 2014 their is a section that's in a foreign language, my plex wont display the subtitles automatically i have to pause the film and then select the subtitles of which it will then continue with the subtitles working but on everything even the english parts. Basically it will either be the whole film with subtitles or nothing at all not just when there is some foreign language.

Sounds like could be the subs themselfs maybe plex is either subs on or off it cant just show small parts.

Sounds like you're running into the old foreign audio problem.  Some movies have small bits of foreign audio subtitled, and to accommodate multiple languages the subtitles for those few lines are in a separate language track, which is different than the closed caption track that subtitles all the dialog.  So when you rip the movie, you have to either burn in the correct subtitle language or just make sure it's the only subtitle track so it's easy to switch to.
