Is there a possibility of future subtitle support without “burning”? I’m tired forcing my NAS to transcode. (And my NAS is tired too)
It is one of the features the developers plan on implementing. But the developers do not normally release timetables for future features so we’re not sure of when it will come. However, it was just recently that Microsoft added additional external subtitle support on the system which should hopefully speed up the development on that front.
So, you mean that it’s possible to view external subtitles (SRT) via the XBOX Media Player?
According to one of the admins on the xbox one board, yes. However the document they link to still says they are not supported.

Just .srt and must be saved as unicode to proper work! Sad story is that the sub is aligned to the left side of screen and can’t be adjusted. Lame update on the xbox side IMO
