It would be nice to see subtitles work correctly with direct play instead of forcing transcode.
The other subtitle requests are all great as well.

This should be implemented.
As is, this should be considered a rather large BUG or a Crappy Kludge

I cannot believe this request has been in the Plex Queue for over 4 YEARS!!!
Plex is useless for subtitles the way it is as everything transcodes.
That means no subtitles for 4K and possibly buffering for otherwise Direct Playable 1080p thus having fewer concurrent plays possible…
Poor folks running on NASs My i7 stuggles with more that 5 transcodes simultaineously and transcoding 4K forget it!!!
Who is the guy that reviews requests and plans PMS releases.
Hope you are not paying him too much…
