So I’ve often read about people complaining that subtitle files won’t show as connected. In the past, this was never a problem for me. I’d name everything correctly (often ran through FileBot), and the next time i click on that in the library the .srt file is there.
But now I was forced to reinstall Windows 10 and I see what others were talking about. I just cannot get them to be attached. Here it wouldn’t work to my normal library so I started a new library with specifically this one movie. It didn’t work. I made copies of the srt file to name with …eng.srt, .en, etc. thinking it required one file name exactly. No luck. I ran several scans of the library and also refreshed all metadata. Still nothing:

Here are all my agents settings if that matters.

Subtitles are important to me and I really need them to work as they used to. How do I get them to work?
Have you performed an Analysis of the movie?
-
activate debug logging (not ‘verbose’!)
- quit Plex Server
- wait 1 minute
- start Plex Server
- wait 2 minutes
- either refresh one movie or add one movie into your library
- wait 3 minutes
-
fetch log files and attach them here
I’ll try that next. Right now I noticed both libraries (main one, and the one I made for only this movie) and this morning both of them have subtitles. So I guess it just takes a bit longer now. Odd that for me it’s not like it was before my Windows 10 installation, but whatever, I guess I’ll just be patient and if I’m not hope this Analysis adds subtitles quickly.
If there are still library updates going on in the background - yes, then subtitles might not get picked up.
Oh, thanks a lot, that’s really good to know. I’m sure that was happening since I just added this whole library again yesterday. I didn’t know that updates were going on since if one was I chose “Cancel scan,” but I can imagine they still were. Thanks!!

It’s only been two days, and now I just added subtitles to a new show I got, and boom, once the file names match the subtitles are there in seconds.
It’s odd that I suck at this stuff yet never have problems with subtitles but I’m always hearing people ■■■■■ about subtitles not working on Plex (mainly on r/Plex). Whatever, glad they work. And thanks!
