Hello.

 

About two, three months ago I watched a movie with subtitles without any problems. Now when I try to watch a series with subs, the episode won't even load. The files are regular .srt files. When I select 'None" the episode works just fine. Same with the movie. It seems that I can't play anything on my Xbox One anymore with subtitles.

 

-edit I just tried to play the same movie that worked a month or two before just fine, and the episode from the series, in the plex web app on my Mac. Same result. Without subs selected, no problems, but with, it doesn't play.

 

-edit: Few days later, any series or movie with subtitles won't run on Xbox One Plex app. Come on guys, I really need some help here. It worked just fine months ago and trust me, I changed nothing.

 

Any help?

This sounds like that your plex server is not capable of transcoding anymore.

The XBox One app needs transcoding for subtitles, but does not if you do not have subtitles (and compatible codecs).

I would check on my Plex server to validate if the transcode process is still starting properly and see if you have another client device that requires transcoding and see if that still works.

Also make sure you do not have a manually modified xbox one profile xml file to make it compatible with dlna (as was needed before the xbox one app). That trick seemed to break the plex app.
