Sudden transcoding in plexWEB makes playback impossible

NAS: Synology DS218+
Server Version#: 1.19.1.2645
Player Version Samsung TV#: 4.25.2
Player Version WEB 1#: 4.22.3
Player Version WEB 2#: 4.31.1

Direct Play and Direct Stream are enabled.

Hi Plex Forum, I hope to find a good solution here, since i really like Plex but since the last update of PMS on my Synology DS218+ (to version 1.19.1.2645) and no further changes i got huge problems playing anything though plexWEB on any device.

My network setup is stable and fast. I got the AVM7590 Fritzbox and a desktop direcetly connected or laptop/phone via wifi whitness the problems though plexWEB. The TV is fine however.

The first thing that wondered me is that I get different plexWEB versions if I either start it from the application list from my NAS (opens WEB with version 4.22.3 at 192.168.178.25:32400/web/) or via the regular link (opens WEB with version 4.31.1 at app.plex.tv/desktop)
Is this correct?

What i whitness with plexWEB is that it starts with Direct Play but instantly switches to Transcode. The CPU load of my NAS goes to 99% (which caught me thinking again). I dug in the forums and on older servers the transcoding is to powerful for the hardware. Now this shouldnt be the issue with a 1.5y old NAS, right? Especially if it ran a week ago very fine. What I tried as well is do download from NAS directly and though plexWEB to see if I have more of a network issue, but the speed was steady and expectedly fast. If I turn off video transcoding I get a message that my hardware is not strong enough and it makes the situation even worse. Why is it transcoding in the first place, when direct play should be available?

Although the friendly reminder here in the forums tells me not to turn on verbose logging i saw a forum post to do so and to check the transcoder and I saw the same issue that the speed went way often <1 which should result in creating my problem. How am I able to fix this?

Plex Media Server.log (2.1 MB)

My first guess is that the new version has a memory leak with plexWEB but I can hardly proof since rollbacking is not possible on my NAS but I hope you guys have a better idea
/edit: i just saw in the FAQ that rollback is possible and I will try this later this week

Thanks!
Felix

Easy:
The browser neither supports the video nor the audio codec. That is why it needs to transcode.

I guess there must be a good reason why one of the 2 most powerful Player Apps in the Plexiverse aren’t in use?

Thanks @Coxeroni for the solution.
I simply did not know that there was a desktop application and rather thought the web will do it. I most likely payed compatible files (audio/video) with chrome to not whitness any issues.

Thanks!
