Suddenly doesn't work on Amazon

I have been using Plex without issue for about 2 years.
Server is running on a Raspberry Pi 3, client is on an Amazon Fire TV.
Starting last week I can no longer play content. The video quality is highly degraded and stops every few seconds. This includes content that I could play without issue just a week ago.
I have done the following:

  • reinstalled on the Amazon Fire
  • wiped and reinstalled the Server on the RPi3
  • bought an Amazon Fire Stick 4k
    All without effect.
BUT I can play the content fine from a client running on my mac.

I can only assume that I am finally hitting the dreaded Android bug, but, I don’t know why it has only now reared its head. And is there anything I can do to go back to how things were?

This version has fixed most of my issues.

But I downloaded new from amazon App Store yesterday. I will check the version.

Perhaps the problem is that my videos are all profile 4.1 but it wasn’t a problem last week!

if it is not the version i posted, then you will definitely have problems. this has been broken for a month and they finally released an update today.

Ah, ok. Today.
I am in Japan and in the Japanese app store it is still 7.28.0.15501 (or something like that).
My server version is 1.18.7.2457-77cb9455c but I am guessing that is not the issue.

I shall wait and see when an update comes to Japan. Thanks

Even the Amazon US store is still reporting 7.28 as the latest version.

I suggest to use 7.27 at the moment

See this post how to downgrade:

Let us know if you still have any problem

I agree, i had to revert back to 7.27.0 as well, the new version fixes some issues, but it’s just terrible.
