So have I exhausted all options? Will deleting my account and creating a new one with a new email work?
Certainly not. It will just multiply your issues.
Could you start the server on your other computer and let it run for a while? I’d like to see if this one is able to contact plex.tv. If it doesn’t either, I think we’ll have to look at your network/router and see if there is a filter or other blockage somewhere.
Yeah, I already reinstalled and ran it on my other computer and no change as well.
What kind of change did you expect in this regard?
Is there also an issue with the other computer?
That’s what I have been mentioning all along that I have two servers and both went out at the same time. The other one won’t recognize the updated server, just like the first one. I told you earlier that it’s called Craft HP.
I expected to be able to claim the server and get it working again.
Can you remember any changes which occured on your home network, or your internet provider, or your router around the time?
Were there any devices added, removed, or replaced?
Did your service provider activate any filters on your connection? (They do sometimes, even without telling you explicitly.)
There was a device added to my router but that was a while ago. Way before this happened. If my service provider did something, I have no way of knowing.
Could you tell what kind of device this was? Like, a second router or something like it?
It tracks my internet activity. It’s part of a research study.
Now this sounds like a potential candidate for interference.
But I’ve had it for some time now.
I will unplug it and see what happens.
After you have claimed a server, it will run for weeks or even months without requiring another connection to plex.tv. I understand you did this way before the additional device came into play.
But at some point the server needs to renew its certificate and contact plex.tv. It will do so using an encrypted connection. Now if this monitoring device is decrypting these kind of connections, it can make the packets invalid. Which then leads to plex.tv discarding them. The result is loss of communication between your server and plex.tv.
Makes sense. I will disconnect it and see what happens.
It worked!!! Thanks for hanging in there with me until you were able to narrow things down to find the problem.
Glad, we got to the bottom of this!
