I would like to make a few suggestions to improvements for the collection feature.
The collection feature is a very nice feature for users with a large library, but since it was introduced it havn’t gotten much love/updates.
So here is a few
Sorting within a collection:
I would like to see more sorting options within a collect.
At the moment there is 3: Alphabetical, release date and custom/user defined (not sure what its called in the english version).
I would like to see more like:
higest rating
most recently added to the server
most recently added to the collection
Also the custom sorting it self could use some improvement in my opinion.
Its nice that you can just drag the titels around for sorting. But i have at least a few times seen this sorting get messed up. Im not sure if it happens doing server restart/plex service restart og doing server updates/plex server updates.
But i would like to see an option like “Sorting titel within this collection”-field on the individual titels. [mod-edit: duplicate; see below]
Where it would simple be putting in 1, 2, 3, 4, and so on for manual sorting. And this way it should be saved and not messed up by a restart/updates.
- Add poster options.
Im not sure how the posters for the collections is created. But it doesn’t seem that well programmed. See screenshot:
2.1 As you can see from my “DC Universe”-collection, although it have 30 titels, The Superman-poster is used twice for some reason.
2.2 The “Eastrail 177 Trilogy”-collection have 3 titels, yet only 1 poster. While my “Has Fallen”-collection also have 3 titels and then it have all 3 posters while 1 is doubled ofcourse.
In generel this seems very random how these posters for collections is created/updated.
It would be nice to have an some options, while 1 of them is being default when a new collection is created.
Options like:
a. 4 random selections
b. First 4 titels in the collect is used (And this will ofcouse look at the sorting within the collect, alphabetical, realse date or how its sorted)
c. Last 4 titels in the collect is used
d. First titel + 2 random in the middle titels + last titel.
e. Manual select 4 posters in a view-menu of some sort
And then also an option to update/re-create a new collection poster based on current option. After you might have added more movies to a collection, it can update with those posters as well.
Collection playback.
When i press play on a collection it will always start playing the first titel in that collection.
This should be like when you press play on a collection, it will start playing the next titel in the collection that is not “marked as seen”.
If i have a collection of 30 titels, and i’ve seen the first 20. I shouldn’t have to open the collection and then select the movie i want to watch. I should have a option to just click play and then the 21st titel starts playing.
And the same goes for a series library. I would to be able to just click play directly on the series or collection and then Plex plays the next unwatched titel/episode. [mod-edit: duplicate; see below]
