Grouping movies like series

Is it possible to unite in one folder, under the same poster, several related movies for viewing as with SERIES?
I would like to join the QATSI trilogy that way, for example. But PLEX ignores those videos when I organize them like that.
I don’t like the collection mode.
Thanks and best regards
Pepe

The Collection Thing is what you make it:

Collections themselves have a Sort Title, so they can be put on the page anywhere you like:

Then when switching the Collection to Alphabetical Listing (Edit Collection/Advanced) Each Movie’s Sort Title will list those in any order you choose inside the Collection:

With the two list options (Edit Collection/Advanced) - Release Date, or Alphabetical (with a Sort Title for the Movies) can put them in any order you like.

Rumor has it when you hit ‘Play’ - they play in order - I can not confirm or deny that claim…lol

Thank you JuiceWSA for responding (and so quickly).
I was unaware of that collections feature… I’ll give it a try.
Thanks again

Here are more (or different) Collection details that may come in handy:

(must be Collection Day at Plex)

Also do check out the new Smart Collection Feature - as brushed up against lightly in the above link.

Ugh. I don’t handle this well.
I’ve managed to get them to group on the screen, but not to share poster.
I’ll have to do some research with collection features and smart collections.
I don’t like to bother too much, you’ve already given me some good pointers. I’m going to put some effort into it before I ask again.

Thank you, you’ve been very kind

Any Collection can have a Custom Poster - like this one I found at:
https://plexcollectionposters.com/

… as well as that nifty background:

It’s amazing, after creating the collection and tinkering with the edition of the films (shortly after answering you) a poster of the collection has come out (yuhuu). Quite a breakthrough for me.
But now I have the trilogy and the three movies… all together.
I’ll keep on playing around
You are a crack

No, I gave that up years ago…
Wait… you said A Crack

Gotcha…

Crack… I mean a person with good knowledge.

Now I have to get only the poster of the collection to show up…

Edit the Library (or the Collection/Advanced):

Hide items in Collections - Library/Advanced:

Collection/Advanced:

Now I have to admit that you are a CRACK!
Wonderful!!!

Like Collections a little better now?

I have been looking for these features for a long time.
And I have read requests from other plexers, never answered or indicating that it was not possible.
But you have solved it in a quick, simple and elegant way.
YOU ARE A REAL CRACK

Here’s a final tip that’ll help you overhaul your library:

If, for instance, you want to put all of your Westerns in a Western Collection - go to your Movie Library and Filter for Westerns:

Select the first one (via the little circle in the upper left of the Poster)
Hold Shift - then select the last one:

Then to ‘Edit’:

Then add all 347 of your Westerns to a Collection called Westerns (oddly enough):

That’s fairly extreme (I’ve been told) and there are some shortcomings to having 347 items in a Collection - but I endure that better than 31 clicks on my Roku to Filter for Westerns - if you know what I mean.

Not really, but I think I’ve learned more about PLEX today than I have in the entire last year.
And I’m feeling pretty good right now with the organizational possibilities of my film library. Even though it’s small and variable.

This type of collection I’d personally do as a Smart Collection so I wouldn’t have to keep managing it.

Follow the same steps for creating the filter but instead of editing all the film’s data to add a tag, I’d use the “Save As…”-> Smart Collection.

Works just as a manual collection, just with dynamic functionality. Anything with “Western” genre will automatically be included in the future (or excluded if the western tag is removed)

And now, at least in beta, “dumb” collections can be manually sorted so Collections are definitely getting some improvements these days. I just used that feature today to sort out some release date discrepencies.

Edit: @PepeLV … here are some sites I use to get collection posters…

Finding good backgrounds to go with the posters can be tricky but luckily desktop wallpaper sites are easier to find for those.

Hi @Insomnic_1,

Thank you.
If I continue like this, I’m only going to have on screen the collections. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: :+1:
