Suggestion: Find the newest version of the show not the oldest

Server Version#:N/A
Player Version#:N/A
When a new movie is added to the libraries Plex seems to find the oldest name associated with the file and assigns that to the movie. Though old movies are added now and then, most of the time a person is probably putting in a new movie and this requires, quite often, one having to force Plex to look up the movie several times until the newer title shows up in the list. I would assume the title data is probably not updated constantly but it would hopefully reduce the number of fixes required if newer information is favored over older information. Just an idea. …Thanks.

Naming & Organizing Your Movie Files

Do you mean movies with multiple remakes, such as A Star Is Born, with the original in 1937 and remakes in 1954, 1976, 2018?

If so, add the year to the folder and file name: /movie_name (year)/movie_name (year).ext.

That will help Plex correctly match the movie.

You can also add the IMDB/TMDB ID to the folder & file name. Plex will use the ID to match the movie instead of the file name. This pretty much guarantees a correct match.

Example:
/movie_name (year) {imdb-xxxxx}/movie_name (year) {imdb-xxxxxx}.ext.
