Hi,
I am using the latest Plex server version on Windows, and I am facing issues when playing optimized versions. I have gone through most of the threads about this issue but could not find a working solution.
What I would like to get:
If I put 3 MKV files (4K + 1080p + 720p), 3 versions are proposed by Plex, and for all, I can select audios and subtitles. I want to achieve the same using optimized versions. For example, 4K, 1080p (optimized for tv), and 720p (optimized for mobile) and selecting different audios and subtitles for each version.
1/ When I select Optimized Version for TV or for Mobile, the optimization process creates a MP4 file and some srt files with a random number xxxxx.
- mymovie.mp4
- mymovie.xxxxx.fra.srt
- mymovie.xxxxx.eng.srt
When playing the optimized versions, Plex does not display/find the srt subtitles and the subtitles are not burnt in the video file. Removing the random number does not fix the issue.
2/ When I select Custom|Windows as target, the srt files are not created but the subtitles (only for the language selected on the movie page) are burnt in the video file. I would like to keep all audios and all subtitles and have only the video file optimized/compressed.
3/ Coming back to 1/, I moved the created files (mp4+srt) from the Plex version folder to a standard folder like “mymovie (2021) - 720p” . I removed the optimized version from Plex, the random number from the srt files and refreshed the library.
- mymovie.mp4
- mymovie.fra.srt
- mymovie.eng.srt
The files are now displayed as a different version of the movie(1080p-mkv and 720p-mp4 for example) but the srt files are again not found/shown by Plex for the MP4/optimized version. subtitles are ok for the original 1080p-mkv version.
Any help is appreciated.
