I am literally cleaning up the exact same show right now. I couldn’t figure out why all the titles were off by one episode in season 2 and I had 2 extra episodes in season 1. Ended up just combining the two files I had for season 3 episode 1 into 1 file since that’s what Plex was expecting but it’s a royal PITA. This would make things so much easier.

I did the same thing. Figured that was gonna be much faster & way less painful than waiting for a “feature update” :slight_smile:

I just spent a fair bit of time constructing the Blu-Ray order for The Office only to find out I can’t use it. Pretty bummed.

The new scanner doesn’t support alternate orders at all right now.

  • Alternate ordering, like DVD ordering, is not currently supported. You’ll just have to live with Firefly making no sense for now.

Yeah I saw that. Maybe that means they’re upgrading to the new TVDB APIs, and that’s why it’s taking longer. One can always dream.

This would really be great, I’ve spent hours trying to get Dragon Ball to manually show up like the Saga order and it keeps merging season 8 with season 4 and more even though they are in separate folders and named properly and I’m just manually entering the title, airing date, and synopsis. If we just had a simple “alternate order” option like DVD, airing, and absolute, it would take me 2 seconds and actually work, currently still stumped.

Thetvdb is too strict when it comes to tv show ordering, themoviedb has been far more flexible and then now I discover they created episode groups for different release orders as many as you like ie production, airdate, streaming (multiple options), dvd etc.
This was back pre 2018, and is already ready to go as na API, can the scanner agent be updated to support this?
Themoviedb should be commended on offering such a flexible system that supports the different ways people prefer to see their shows, for example firefly - I much prefer the production order as it makes more sense for the story - who cares what some tv network thought was best for viewer numbers.

Can Plex add support for this? I know it can handle airdate, dvd, absolute, - but themoviedb system is far more flexible
