I use TVDB DVD Order for Firefly … rest of my library is TMDB but I switched that one specifically and I have the proper order in case you weren’t aware of the option.
The TVDB and TMDB have recently introduced additional orders besides DVD and Absolute order from TVDB so we’re hoping we get some of those options as well.
For Anime - the TVDB Absolute Order can be very useful as well.
This thread’s been open for 1.5 years, and in that time we didn’t even get an official response, or any kind of acknowledgment, so I don’t think this is gonna happen.
The new TV agent added support for DVD order, and they did confirm on a different thread they are looking into adding other episode groups (like Netflix), but no timeline.
My thread got duplicated to here. I’m not sure what happened to Animaniacs. It used to be correct on TVDB and when I added the 2020 season it completely screwed all of it up. I saw your Joined Order and rallied for it’s inclusion. Thanks for your work on that, sir.
I hope this feature will be considered by Plex, I’m not able to add all Futurama episode with the available ordering options… 13 episodes are unmatched for aired, dvd and absolute.
This Plex limitation makes it basically impossible to use Plex for many/most kids shows and cartoons.
I want to add the 3-part episodes just like are available on my kid’s favorite streaming service.
The only somewhat usable workaround is to use Show.S01E01-03.mp4 file naming convention, resulting in 3 duplicated thumbnail videos on every Plex screen. Each thumbnail shows only a single segment’s metadata, but doesn’t even start playing directly at that segment.
This metadata is available from TVDB in the form of the Joined Order and Combined Order type Seasons. Please make this available in the Plex interface.
