Support Alternate Order / Flexible Seasons (TVDB) [implemented] and Episode Groups (TMDB) [open]

I use TVDB DVD Order for Firefly … rest of my library is TMDB but I switched that one specifically and I have the proper order in case you weren’t aware of the option.

The TVDB and TMDB have recently introduced additional orders besides DVD and Absolute order from TVDB so we’re hoping we get some of those options as well.

For Anime - the TVDB Absolute Order can be very useful as well.

Yep, New Agent, Just Checked - and my Firefly is set like yours and looks fine.

Note:
It was set that way before I migrated to the New Agent.
That tid-bit may be important.

Me too, for Firefly - but I’ve flipped it on other series added after and it works as expected with the new agent so it should be good to go.

Cool.

Firefly is the ONLY show in my Plexiverse that uses an alternate order. It’s easy to check to see if it’s working… and it is…lol

@drzoidberg33 [BETA] New Plex TV Series Scanner - #466 by drzoidberg33
Is there any news on this in the new scanner?

I just spent the past week populating the Alternate (Joined) Order of Animaniacs. Please add this feature so my effort wasn’t in vain.

This thread’s been open for 1.5 years, and in that time we didn’t even get an official response, or any kind of acknowledgment, so I don’t think this is gonna happen.

The new TV agent added support for DVD order, and they did confirm on a different thread they are looking into adding other episode groups (like Netflix), but no timeline.

So it was you! I am waiting for the alternate order support on Plex as well because of Animaniacs being a mess right now

I at least wants an ability to use nfo

Give us the alternate orders from TheTVDB as options.

Any news about this request?

My thread got duplicated to here. I’m not sure what happened to Animaniacs. It used to be correct on TVDB and when I added the 2020 season it completely screwed all of it up. I saw your Joined Order and rallied for it’s inclusion. Thanks for your work on that, sir.

It’s a shame I can’t actually use the Joined Order on Plex though :woman_shrugging:

I hope this feature will be considered by Plex, I’m not able to add all Futurama episode with the available ordering options… 13 episodes are unmatched for aired, dvd and absolute.

This is still required

Some show are a nightmare to add without this (Casa de papel) for example

3 posts were split to a new topic: Problems with Absolute Order

This Plex limitation makes it basically impossible to use Plex for many/most kids shows and cartoons.

I want to add the 3-part episodes just like are available on my kid’s favorite streaming service.

The only somewhat usable workaround is to use Show.S01E01-03.mp4 file naming convention, resulting in 3 duplicated thumbnail videos on every Plex screen. Each thumbnail shows only a single segment’s metadata, but doesn’t even start playing directly at that segment.

This metadata is available from TVDB in the form of the Joined Order and Combined Order type Seasons. Please make this available in the Plex interface.

Would solve so many matching problems.

They NEED TO FIX FUTURAMA.
It’s ridiculous that this has been BROKEN for so long.
There needs to be a way to do production order (Futurama - Regional Order - All Seasons - TheTVDB.com)

My library is a complete MESS because Plex doesn’t work right with this.
