Support channel surfing

I’m unable to surf channels because Plex continues recording the channel even after clicking the back button. I’m using Plex on Apple TV and I don’t see any button to stop channel playback. Since I have only 1 tuner, switching channel gives me an error. When I checked the logs on xteve and telly, I can see that ghost stream (previously stopped) continues to be streamed to Plex, due to Plex’s auto-recording feature. The auto-recording feature allow users to continue Live TV playback in another device but I have no need for this feature.

My current method of channel surfing:
Step 1: When I’m watching a channel, I click the back button and end up on the channel list screen.
Step 2: In the channel list screen, I again press back button to access the sidebar menu.
Step 3: I have to click the ‘Up’ button to go to any of the other tabs (such as Movies, TV Shows or Home)
Step 4: I have to again go to the Live TV and DVR tab.
Step 5: Select any other channel that I want to watch.

As you can see, I have to go through five steps just to change a channel, since I have only 1 tuner.

Solution 1: Give users the option to disable auto-recording of the channel which is currently being played. When the channel is being switched, the previous channel will stop playback and new channel will start playback.

Solution 2: Add a ‘Stop’ button to the video player. This stop button would stop the playback as well as the auto-recording feature of Plex.

Both the solutions above combined with the support for changing channels using ‘Up’ or ‘Down’ button would be great.

Does anyone know how to get it to work?
