I would like to request support for configuring Episode Ordering directly via the show folder name, similar to how other metadata hints are already handled.
For example:
- Showname (2020) {ordering-tvdbdvd}
- Showname (2020) {ordering-tvdbaired}
- Showname (2020) {ordering-tvdb …}
This would allow users to define the desired episode ordering at the filesystem level without needing to manually adjust settings in the UI after scanning.
One key use case is portability: users can move their media library between different Plex installations without having to reconfigure episode ordering for each show manually. This also makes setting up a fresh Plex server significantly easier, since all relevant configuration is already embedded in the folder structure.
The feature could follow the same parsing logic as other bracket-based hints.
If multiple ordering systems are supported in the future, this approach would scale naturally.
Ideally, Plex would prioritize the folder hint over default agent settings.
This enhancement would significantly improve usability for advanced users and large collections.
