Surround sound not working on Plex app on Fire Stick 4k

Server Version#: 1.14.1.5488-cc260c476
Player Version#: 7.25.2.14287

I recently got a new Amazon Fire Stick 4k installed on my TV. The only problem which I am facing is Plex movies which are having 5.1 sound is not going through my surround speakers and bass.

I tested with Netflix app on Fire stick and surround sound is working perfectly on this.

I tested with my original TV software which is Samsung KS8000 and Plex is playing surround sound.

So problem is with Plex app on Amazon fire stick. I tried some settings but nothing is working. Any ideas and suggestions to resolve this issue?

Fire Stick Setting:

Surround Sound: Best Available

HDMI CEC Device Control : On

Plex app setting:

Audio Boost : Large

Passthrough : HDMI

H264 maximum level : 5.2 Recommended

PMS: 1.18.4.2171 on DS918+
Plex Client: 7.25.2.14287, FireTV 4K Stick
FireStick 4K<–HDMI–> LG B7 OLED <–HDMI ARC–> Denon 4300

I’m seeing same for dts 5.1 audio.

PMS reports Direct Play. However, Denon receiving AC3 2.0 via HDMI-ARC.

@FordGuy61 so did surround sound ever worked for you? any solution?

This seems to be new behavior. I don’t use my Fire devices a lot, but I remember dts decoding to multi-channel audio at some point.

I’m going to do some additional testing over the weekend.

Note that AC3 5.1 and EAC3 5.1 are both passed to my receiver correctly. TrueHD is transcoded by PMS, which is expected behavior.

@FordGuy61 you said AC3 5.1 is working for you which means your surround speakers are delivering sound for your files played on Plex.
That is not working for me.

Can you provide your audio setting for Fire Stick and Plex app

I’ve no special settings.

Fire Stick is set to Best Available.

Plex client has HDMI passthrough enabled.

Denon front display shows it is receiving AC3/EAC 5.1 audio.
