Switching from Xbox One S to Nvidia Shield

Hey guys. I am sick of all the issues with Plex for the Xbox One.
I currently stream from Plex Server on my laptop.
Can anyone tell me if switching from the Xbox to a Shield will be seamless for me? Is there any drawbacks or major differences, from a setup and main features standpoint?

Thanks!

it should be the same as switching to any other client.

have you not used plex web, or mobile app ?

plugin shield, do any updates, sign in to plex, pin whatever libraries you want, and off you go.

you may want to confirm both the shield device settings, and the plex app settings, to match whatever the rest of your av system.

Yeah I have seen Plex on my iOS devices but in some of the reading I have done I have seen mentions of the Shield actually being a Plex server which I don’t want. I just need a new, more reliable client.

ah yes, the shield can be used as a client and/or server.

it does’t have to be used for both, just leave the server disabled.

Thanks, TeknoJunky!

I have both devices on my system. I seem to have issues, like many others, with buffering on the Xbox One. The app on the shield works with zero issues (other than I seem to have to re log-in from time to time.) The shield app is super easy to navigate, faster and in my opinion … better. However, once in a movie I find that the XBOX One’s audio sounds deeper and more full and rich on my surround system. I would say this about all audio on all apps… the Xbox just sounds better. However… like I said… for Plex… the buffering is just too frustrating on XBOX so I have swiched almost 100% to Shield when I use Plex. I hope the XBOX app gets fixed soon so I can switch back and have the best of both worlds again!
