Hi, I can see why some want Plex to scan their library and sort everything for them. I’m not in that camp, I just want to see a list view of folders so I can select what I want to watch from my carefully named collection of media. How do I do that, it seems unnecessarily opaque, but perhaps I’m being thick…
Use the Library tab and then select Folder from the view drop down menu (iOS):
Plex Web, use the Library view then click on Movies:
And most importantly: create a library of the type ‘Other Videos’, instead of ‘Movies’.

OK, cheers, I can see the folders now, but there’s tons of media missing, is the suggestion to change the library type to other going to help in that regard?
Yes, it is crucial. Because in a ‘Movie’ library, everything that cannot be identified as a movie will be ignored.
