Hi everyone.
Is there any way to use symlinks on Windows?
I have seen that they are very convenient for people like me who want to continue sharing content in seedbox.
Jellyfin and Emby work with symlinks.
Plex, on the other hand, is unable to scan and associate contents, it’s really sad and doing it manually is a difficult task.
Is there any solution for us Windows users?
This is the structure:
C:%path%\Plex Media Server
C:\Content\Movies$$.mkv (symlink of one of the contents in D: and F:)
the content be stored in a volume with full NTFS feature support. (early versions of ReFS didn’t support hard links)
both the folder for Plex and your source file be stored on the same NTFS volume – i.e. C:\seedbox C:\plexvideos
A hardlink will make both versions look exactly the same, like a genuine file. Only when both versions are deleted, the storage space will be released.
To make hardlinks distinguishable in the Windows GUI, you’ll need additional software. https://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/linkshellextension.html
The seedbox is connected with rclone
I can’t have the contents of the seedbox on the same drive where plex is installed.
Whith this system that I continue to share content without being a parasite.
But if I have to download them it is useless to also have them on the seedbox.
I prefer to exploit the contents of the seedbox when necessary, and at the same time also take advantage of the space they offer…
Can’t this integration be improved?
symlink contents are exploited by competitors, they work well…
Can’t you’s do something?
