Sync content to Chromebook ?

Hi,

Is it not possible to sync content via the webapp ?

What I would like to do is download e.g. a movie to my local drive on my Chromebook (which has very limited space), that is optimized based on my needs. If I'm flying or taking the train, I have no internet. So the ability to download a version of a movie that is transcoded to be optmized for specific need (resolution, sound, quality etc) would be great.

But, this feature is not present in the webapp, or am I missing something here ?

Thanks

Hi,

Only the mobile clients support syncing content, Plex/Web does not.

The alternative is to use Cloud Sync, and then download the transcoded file locally. Seems like the only way?

I dont really need the -syncing- part, just the transcoded part.

Offline movie watching on a Chromebook would be an outstanding feature. Many Chromebooks now support running Android apps and so, in theory, the offline downloads could be done through the Android app. However, ChromeOS doesn’t support using SD or USB storage on Android apps and so there’s simply not enough storage on a Chromebook using this method.

Can we please have the dev team consider adding offline viewing/downloads to a Chrome app directly? Chromebooks are ideal for watching movies but there are many use cases (long travel times for example) where online streaming isn’t possible.

Chromebooks now support the use of the MicroSD cards by Android apps, but the Plex app needs to be changed to make it happen. Vote for this feature suggestion!
