I’m experiencing the unfortunate combination of two very old Plex bugs that have never gone away for me since the first time I started using Plex back in 2014.
The first bug is that, when I try to sync media to an iOS device – and this has happened on every iOS device I’ve ever owned – the sync will almost always get stuck at “waiting” and never finish, even if I leave the app running for hours.
The second bug is the app’s UI becomes incredibly stuttery whenever there’s an in-progress sync, even when it’s stuck. Basically, every second or two, the app’s UI will freeze for anywhere from 1-5 seconds, making the entire app basically unusable.
It used to be that I could get sync “unstuck” by force quitting the app and restarting my Plex server. This no longer works.
The only way I can stop bug #2 now is to delete all in-progress syncs. Meaning it’s now impossible for me to sync anything!
Sync is one of Plex’s best features… when it works. But it has never properly worked for me, and my frustration is mounting!
What can I do to finally get this feature working? Surely this is not what everyone else’s experience of it is, including the Plex devs.
