I love the noise cancelation headphones … I still can’t sleep but I can watch plex content with much clear sound
So you got me thinking, When I run these tests I was at home and was failing, but when you mentioned the local IP 172.168, something clicks on the brain. BTW: in answer to your question, Plex is not running on docker, I have a Mini Intel nuc running Ubuntu and plex on it (no graphical environment ) on my local network.
Today I’m at the hotel, I went to give it a try and … is working.
The issue is when I’m at home, connected to the same local network.
Hope this helps
This new downloads doesn’t seem to work well on my iOS at all. Been trying g for 4 days now to download 3 TV shows of about 20 episodes each but still got 47 episodes to go.
With sync I could go to bed and when I woke up it would be all done.
Also it won’t delete watched episodes.
Really not impressed
As like many on here, I noticed the issue when I actually tried to use the feature, because I was about to be away from home…
As I am now away from home, I can confirm I have the exact same issue as you @Pleitao, Outside the home, the new ‘Downloads’ feature works seemingly flawlessly. Inside the home, it did not.
I’d recommend someone reproduce this in two different configurations. First inside the home and then immediately repeat the test ‘outside’ of the home by connecting to a VPN or similar. Collect logs both times and share. (I would offer to do this but I’m not at home for a while now)
The issue might be related the way de device is trying to reach the server to download.
Still, this information should me more than enough to Plex developers identify the issue on connection.
Yesterday and Today, I made live tests.
I just got a brand new iPad Pro, receive it before yesterday, download all apps I need to work and obviously the Plex, the most important tool of my work (it helps to maintain mental health on the flights)
Activate the new download tool and place a couple of things on the pipeline, took me all night downloading on an hotel network … but I was sleeping, no big problem on the waiting.
As soon I got internet on the device, he changed the movie and file status to “played” and started to working on the next file to download.
Quality was great while offline with no issues and the subtitles are finally back when seeing it offline.
It still need a couple of fixes and functionalities, but it seams a good replacement of offline sync.
After updating PMS to the latest version 1.24.0.4930 I had problems downloading anything. My iOS Version is on 7.21.1
While trying to download a movie or a series I keep getting a 400 Response notification. I looked into the Log Files and this is what I could find:

To fix it I reinstalled the iOS app. This seemed to do the trick.
Is it also intended that it still streams from my server if possible? Do actively play a video from the downloads I have to switch to the download menu.
Yes, this is a bug that we are aware of. Hopefully fixed soon.
Okay glad to here of you guys being aware of it ![]()
Hello All,
I need some help please. I do like the downloads feature, but I miss the way sync would automatically delete what I have watched. I now have a few shows in download that i have watched, is there a way to manually delete them?
Definitely great to see improvements to this key piece of functionality, thank you!
Can you take a look at and/or confirm that these two issues have been (or will be) fixed:
- BUG - sync to iOS says downloading subtitle but can’t find it on device - #8 by kkycble
- iOS syncing not updating watched status - #9 by krugster
And also, I’ve noticed that it seems to be using up much more disk space than it is reporting. Within the Plex App it says ~4GB used, but at the system level (iOS) it shows 16GB and filling up all my storage. Is this a known issue?
It took a restart of the iPad to fix this.
I also just noticed that my iCloud backups were failing because I didn’t have enough storage space in iCloud and that Plex was trying to take >4GB of space in the backup. I’m not sure if this is new or not but is it possible to setup these downloads so that they are excluded from iCloud backups while still being able to keep the Plex app and configuration backed up?
Like the feature so far but my issue is with playlists. At least playlists work now (unlike sync which broke them a while back) but it is missing features. The only option is download entire playlist. No ability to do options. Would like to see some options to restrict this down similar to what used to be available in suyc where I could still select things like “last 5 unplayed” and so forth. Functionality is there for other things like tv shows so seems like it would be easy to add it to playlist as well and download all can still be na option.
In my specific use case I use playlists for training videos and there can be hundreds in one list so “grab first 5 unplayed” type options ie very very useful.
For the subtitles problem, it does seem to be fixed.
Another small feature request - could we add a default “max number of downloads” and “delete downloaded episodes” to the Download settings page so that we don’t have to select it for each show/movie? Would make the “one click download” even smoother
Both of those threads were reported using the old Sync feature. Please let us know if you still experience that with Downloads. It is unlikely Sync will be fixed, but if you see the problem with Downloads, we will take a look.
We are aware of this and looking if this feature can be re-added.
I like the idea. I’ll bring this up.
I have not seen this. Sounds like maybe some incomplete/failed downloads were hanging around. I’ll keep an eye for this.
Unlikely but I’ll ask.
It seems like I can’t use the Picture in Picture Mode anymore. If I try the movie stops and I see the wait icon spinning.
Is support for ac3, and eac3 planned on iOS - on the new video player? This would be great to have supported as it would allow for spatial audio to work - and of course avoid transcoding when a download is started.
