Running latest server. Latest iOS apps on iPad and iPhone.
The “Downloads & Sync” item on both devices has a red “Error” next to it right in the menu bar. When I click into it, there are NO synced items. No info about the error. Identical on both devices.
When I try to sync an movie, I immediately get “sync is not available because another user has synced items on this device”. No other users have anything synced on any devices. Confirmed this in Settings -> Sync section.
Rebooted everything. Brand new install on iPad as of yesterday.
Can you try logging out of the Plex app and logging back in?
If that doesn’t work, please do the following:
Log out of the Plex app
Delete the Plex app
Reboot the iOS device
Reinstall the Plex app
Login to the Plex app
I’ve been hanging out on the forums for awhile now and I haven’t seen that particular error message reported before – and Google confirms it’s a pretty rare error message…
I have more than one user on the system. One is a shared iPad. I’m a little confused as it now appears that only one Plex user can sync content to a device at a time. If user A has content synced, user B will not be able to sync ANYTHING until User A unsyncs everything.
That’s quite limiting, no? Is that on purpose or am I missing something?
It has always been my experience that only one user can sync to a device at any given time (this is going back from Plex v4+ to current). Also, once synced there are no longer user restrictions applied to the media.
In other words, if you have user accounts with kid friendly restrictions (i.e. kids that can only see items based on label restrictions) and you sync non-kid friendly media to a shared device, they can see it all.
Argh. Ok. Sort of defeats the purpose of having user accounts on a heavily-shared device like an iPad. Hope they address this, seems like a no-brainer to me.
Cheers, and thanks for the replies!
Oh - and for what it’s worth. Once ONE user syncs content, they are the ONLY one who can EVER sync content. Unless, of course, you delete the entire app from your device and start over. Then you can pick a new user to be the ONE who syncs. Confirmed this twice.
