Sync items will not transfer

It works!
It appears that this has simultaneously fixed the semi-related issue I was having with sync on Android which was causing my Pixel to repeatedly crash/restart during every background sync attempt about every 3 minutes once unlocked.

That’s odd. Nothing was changed related to Android, so if this somehow fixed things for you, horray for magical fixes.

Well good news. We think we found the issue. It’s on our backend so you don’t need to update anything. You may need to recreate the sync job, put files should start transferring.

Sorry, bad news. Something has changed, but my problem is not fixed. Now, instead of the network or unknown error, the files are stuck at Awaiting Transfer. It’s progress, but not enough.

Normally conversion is first 50% then the actual transfer is the second half. On both my laptop and desktop the transfers are locked at 50% and not moving. The file being transferred to my laptop is only a short 12 minute, (330MB) clip so any progress or lack there of should be apparent.

Before attempting these transfers I removed all pending syncs, removed the clients from the devices settings page, restarted the server and clients, and signed out and back in.

Any other ideas?

Update: Okay, so super weird. After not moving for 2 hours, my itty-biddy little file finally transferred. I’m trying some more, larger files right now to see what happens.

So, the larger movie file I tried syncing to my desktop still has not started to transfer after sitting at 50% for 3-1/2 hours. It’s only 8GB so it should have transferred a long time ago.

I am also trying a new batch of files to the laptop. So far five of the files have finished converting but none of them have started to transfer. Heading to bed now, I’ll be interested to see what I find in the morning.

Update:
The morning did not greet me with two completed syncs, but the situation turned out to be better than it appeared. The movie I was transferring to my desktop still had not transferred, but that was because the sync process had stopped. Once I requested a sync on the client the file transferred.

The new batch of files on the laptop was similar. Conversion was complete, but nothing had transferred and the sync was stopped. I started the sync again, and the files are now in the process of transferring. It’s kind of a pain that it seems to be stopping after the conversion step, but I don’t mind restarting the sync as long as it get’s the job done.

I am thankful that it is working, although there does appear to be some room for improvement.

Fixed for me too thanks!

Ive had this issue for a long time too. My Win 10 laptop won’t sync.
I actually bought a Kindle Fire HD 10 for travel, hoping that would work. It did for my first trip. But it doesn’t want to work anymore.

I’ve tried restarting PMS, cleared cache on my tablet, deleted content on my tablet. Stopped all syncs, and restarted with just one short 6 minute cartoon. Still just sits there stuck at 50%. Appears to have just transcoded, but not actually downloading the file.

One of the main reasons i bought plex pass was so i could watch movies when i didn’t have an internet connection.

Nothing will Sync except for 1 show on my Fire HD 8 tablet. I have a 32 gig external in there and sometimes one show will sync but the rest just fail. and if they succeed, within 24 hours they disappear from sync and turn into error item (there was an error syncing this item)

If a show succeeds and is synced, the only pattern I can see is that the show is finished. The shows that fail are often ongoing shows, updated each week with a new file . I honestly don’t know what to do, I bought the HD 8 to sync content with plex exclusively for my trips and it never works.

I have a new windows 10 tablet and I have the same problem where the transcoding occurs and then it just hangs at ‘Transferring’. Since I am moving from my iPad to the windows 10 table, I would really like be able to watch my movies on a plane without having to copy the movies to my laptop.

From reading this thread and others, it sounds like this doesn’t work. Does it? And if not, is someone @Plex going to fix the problem?

Same issue here, Windows 10 Surface Pro 2017. Stops at 50% “transferring”, and nothing has been downloaded. Have tried the tips above.

After playing around with this for a few days, what I’ve learned is:

  1. You’re SOL getting a Plex app to work on Windows.
  2. Plex doesn’t plan on updating the old windows app (2012) or providing a solution.
  3. You can try using an Windows Android emulator. I’ve been experimenting with BlueStacks. It has worked with the Amazon Prime app and I’m able to download. I’m still trying with the Android Plex app.

I THINK I’VE FIGURED IT OUT!!

I had the issue of getting to 50% and then ‘awaiting transfer’ and nothing happening on a Microsoft Surface laptop, so I did some searching around and if you go back to the ‘status’ section and then hit the sync bar up top, you’ll see your items that are ‘awaiting transfer’, down the bottom there is a little button with an arrow pointing down. Once you click that, it then transfers the files to Plex. It’s a long-winded process, but it’s now synced to my laptop!

Sorry if someone has already posted this, but I felt like I won in my own mind.

I have found a way to get the Sync working on the Windows 10 Plex App.

Similar to Jiary’s post above, but this is how I got it working.

After selecting Sync on the movie and then getting the “Awaiting Transfer” message, I do the following

  1. Click on the Home button to go back to the main screen

  2. Click on the three dots in the bottom right corner and then select “Status”

That’s it. It will then start to download after 10 seconds or so. I am not sure why this happens… very strange, but this worked consistently for me.

norbertrode - that combo of Click Home, then Click Status worked for me too. Goofy, but I will take it! Thanks,…
