sync to plex media player?

Can you sync content using plex media player on a mac laptop. I have a friend that is going going out of town that i share my library with and all he has is a laptop. if not since he can sync to his iPhone is there a way he can sync to iPhone and then some how play on laptop while on plane?

Yes. If his iPhone and laptop are on the same local network (use a travel router), he can cast from the iPhone to PMP.

Is there a cheap travel router you would recommend?

I don’t have a recommendation. I’ve never used one on a plane. Have your friend check with the airline, they may have restrictions against such devices.

Do you think I can use one that says not a hotspot. If I just want to be on the same network as you say while on the plane to play movies from iPhone to laptop can I use one that says not a hotspot?

Correct. You do not want a HotSpot.
