So, I need some advice. I will soon be traveling for work, and don’t know the best way to access my Plex content on my laptop.
I need to be able to access it with a very unreliable connection. What would be ideal, is to sync the content to my laptop, or an external SSD, and be able to use PMP to navigate/watch the content.
Any suggestions on the best way to access my media? Thanks!
Last I looked at this which was over a year ago if you have windows 10 and get app via the app store its considered a mobile device so you can sync content to your laptop that way as a mobile client.
Besides that I usually sync content to my phone and use an HDMI out cable or casting to get it onto a bigger screen.
Unfortunately there is no great way to do this with your laptop.
I have in the past:
Just downloaded the files from the Web Client, watched them using VLC and marked them manually in Plex as watched.
Used other devices to sync and watched on them. I bought a Galaxy Tab A just for this as I feel the Android client is the best for this. I have also used my iPad.
Bought a WD Wireless Passport and loaded that up with media, ran the Plex server that is on that and used it on planes and in hotels as a Plex server - again, have to manually mark files as watched on my main Plex server and this has the added bonus of not being able to transcode so the media has to be prepped first.
