plex.tv/downloads – Select NAS and then Synology ARMv7 package (32 bit)
When you install it in Package Center, it willl do all the base setup work for you.
The only step you will need is to give Plex access to your media.
Here is the announcement, which also serves as a nice tutorial, on how to setup access to your media shares.
Will this defo work on ds416 slim? As I’m sure I’ve tried this already!
There are two ARMv7 binaries.
One is hardware floating point and one is without.
The specs for the NAS are here:
Hi. I’m new to all this & I not sure what you mean.
I need some help, as a noob & don’t no what this means.
Thanks
James
James,
If you go to plex.tv/downloads, Open to NAS → Synology downloads, you should be looking at this page.
The one you want should be the bottom one.
As yet another option, Synology should also have a version of PMS in their Package Center for you to install. The one they have curated is known to be the correct one.
Downloading direct from Plex allows you to be more current with software but means you need to know what to get / willing to try . Don’t worry, the Synology will not let you install the wrong one.
Ok thanks. I’ll try this in bit.
I think I need an idiots ready guide 🤦:joy:

I have updated the package but still not working. It’s installed on DS. (See pic)
When I open it, I don’t get any book up to the DS. Do I have something not turned on to link to my account or something please?
James,
If it doesn’t open the browser (some Synology models won’t), open ` http://ip.addr.of.syno:32400/web in your local web browser.
It will take you to the sign-in and setup wizard.
This is where you will perform the configuration (point it at your media shares)
Please do remember: Control Panel - Shared Folders - EDIT each of your media shares and allow user Plex to Read (or Read/Write) as you wish.
If it doesn’t show as “Running”, we will need to see why.
Control Panel - Shared Folders - EDIT the Plex share Permissions.
Give your Username R/W permissions.
Now use FileStation to navigate into the Plex share.
Drill down into it until you see Logs.
Right-Click Logs and Compress to Logs.zip
Download that ZIP from the Syno and upload it here.
