Synology DSM 7.1.1 the Plex app panel will not display any longer

Player Version#: web Version 4.141.0 (not relevant)

I’ve been running Plex happily on my Synology DS918+ that is now running DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 7
I perform the manual download and manual install of the plex app when an update is available. It’s been fine even after the DSK 6 to 7 migration (in 2023).
The last app update I installed is: PlexMediaServer-1.41.3.9314-a0bfb8370-x86_64_DSM7.spk

…and it is in fact running that version and everything works perfectly. EXCEPT, the app panel in the Synology package center for Plex no longer displays anything and the actions (like stop or start) are unavailable. I don’t know really when this started.

How can I fix this? My family will kill me if I wipe out their “watched” status, so I don’t want to burn everything down and start over. Suggestions? Logs?

It’s a major bug with DSM 7.1.1 Update 7.

Synology acknowledged it and will fix it in DSM 7.1.1 Update 8

Your choice is to:

  1. Wait — leaving it alone
  2. Upgrade to DSM 7.2.2 and install the DSM72 SPK file.
