Looks like my TV Butler isn’t able to find any channel. Is TV one of the things this RC broke? Tuner is detected, but 0 channels found. I’m on the 4600 build you posted here.
Correct. Synology discontinued all non-HDD USB devices as of DSM 7 .
In return, it also sheds support for a long list of legacy devices and services. For example, DSM 7.0 no longer supports ext3 volumes or USB dongles (for Wi-Fi , Bluetooth, cellular, speaker, and DTV) are no longer supported. Some popular apps are also no longer (fully) supported, either.
Oh, I knew about that, but seeing Plex still could detect it I thought you relied on some own driver. Too bad, Synology is going back in several ways with this DSM.
As mentioned, I read the post that you do not recommend dsm 7 RC until after I had already installed the version because I did not know that this would cause problems. I didn’t even have a dsm7 before. so i hope i get updates anyway
From DAY ONE of the DSM 7 BETA, we’ve warned. The number of DSM 7 threads in the forum is staggering.
The DSM 7 Forum Preview thread was posted for months while we worked through the issues.
My only knowledge of a a Preliminary RC Candidate was DSM 7.0-41876 – which fortunately never saw the light of day. It was completely broken. No third-party packages could be installed.
Synology pushed DSM 7.0-41882 to “Release Candiate” status WITHOUT NOTIFICATION.
Most folks, not thinking to check with Plex first, went ahead and upgraded their 7.0-41222 beta to 7.0-41882 RC
I had no choice but to react and find away around the breaking changes caused by that firmware.
Please now be aware, as stated in in my announcement , which is also a Forum Banner for the NAS & Devices category,
We’re going to keep updating PMS as long as we can.
At our management’s direction, we will not be making any further support changes for DSM 7.0 unutil:
a. The platform is stable
b. The pending design changes are implemented, stable, and documented
c. Our management approves resuming Synology DSM support efforts.
I’m not trying to be a hard XXX here. There are limited manhours available and it’s impossible to develop a product which runs on a device which itself is not stable.
Is there a process documented to migrate PMS to a docker container within DSM? I never transcode anything, so I would just like to migrate PMS and all it’s metadata on DSM 7 RC to Docker and not have to worry about Synology breaking anything.
There is no Docker engine available for DSM 7 at this time.
I had hoped they would be present but, given the changes in DSM 7 , specifically all the new limitations imposed by Synology, I don’t know if they will bother porting to DSM 7 any time soon.
I would very much like to be surprised and proven incorrect in that estimation
