Hello guys,
Unfortunately I had an error whilst performing the upgrade process. Any ideas?
EDIT: I’ve just reviewed and granted the access to PlexMediaServer system user to the media folders and retried. It worked flawlessly and now it’s up and running! Thanks @ChuckPa!
I saw that locally.
Have you previously manually played with any permissions at the Linux level?
This includes forcing the ownership of any files in the Plex share using File Station
Not as far as I could remember, @ChuckPa. I retried the installation, taking special care to grant the read access to all media folders in advance, and it went well. Thanks for your support!
Confirm please?
You are now OK – migration completed successfully ?
Yes, I can confirm @ChuckPa. I was running the DSM7 preview and dealing with start/stop via CLI. Now I installed the new Beta package from Plex and migrated my /volume1/Plex folder successfully! PMS is now chugging again, latest and greatest:
Working here in a DSM7 Virtual DSM image. I initially couldn’t get it to find my files I connected to via remote mount, but I was able to figure it out and it’s now working fine. I am testing with a file that has external subs which requires transcoding… working great.
Thanks Chuck. I’ll do that in a bit and then edit this post with new logs.
The blue message means there are no errors. It is a reminder to grant permission for PlexMediaServer to read your media.
Do you get a RED message ?
I’m dumb !
It’s installed, just that I forgot that the icon does not appear automatically.

Thanks
@ChuckPa
Currently have PMS installed from DSM 6, using CLI to run it. I was running the DSM preview since it came out, using a DS918+. Unable to manually install the new package, not seeing anything else for plex showing up. Do I need to uninstall the current version I have installed? Didn’t see that listed anywhere.
The shares that are on the volume work and play but the share that is external to the volume will not work. I did give permissions in shared folder?
