Synology - DSM 7 build 41882 - Breaking Changes

@ChuckPa Not sure what to be more scared of, the fact Synology have been making fundamental changes this late into it’s development, or the part you say “There are other changes coming” :joy:

BINGO!

Am I justified in considering DSM 7.0 to be

UNSTABLE

at this point in its development ?

By every software development rule I know / every line I’ve ever written –

  1. Design
  2. Review
  3. adjust
  4. Review
  5. Review again
  6. Proof of concept
  7. Review
  8. Adjust
  9. Final review
  10. FREEZE
  11. Start coding.

You don’t NOT change functionality – OR THE SPECS – AFTER you’ve declared “Release Candidate” ..

That is NOT how software is developed.

DSM 7 has been 3 years in the making… and the design is still not frozen?

There are still problems on the horizon i have NO CLUE how to get everyone past.

It’s going to be a nightmare.

I might end up giving you all custom BASH scripting to bypass it all.

Notice

And requested changes have been granted by Synology,

Installing and using is good to go.
Final updates to the packaging are coming but will not be of concern to anyone.
