I have a customised domain for my NAS and this works fine for installed Synology Products accessing them from the Synology Desktop, however when I click on Plex UI from the NAS it tries to open a https window at “nas .mydomain .net :32400/web” this results in for Brave this error

Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to nas dundreich net because this web site requires a secure connection.

What can you do about it?

nas mydomain net has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox can only connect to it securely. You can’t add an exception to visit this site.

The issue is most likely with the web site, and there is nothing you can do to resolve it. You can notify the web site’s administrator about the problem.

I can however access Plex via http NAS-IP:32400/web

Synology say its a 3rd party vendor issue, and cant help, everything else works fine just would be good to be able to access Plex via the NAS Desktop. This does seem an issue with 3rd party approved intergrations like Plex and iDrive.

Anyone any ideas?

Either in your configuration (Settings - Server - Network) or elsewhere in the connection to your synology, secure connections are required however the inbound offered Cert isn’t known to PMS / what it’s expecting.

If you attempt to connect unsecurely, PMS will extend its cert in Plex/Web to the server.

If you have your own cert on the Synology, but is unknown to PMS,
the connection will come in with your cert (Syno gets it first) and then PMS sees it as an unrecognized domain and refuses secure connection.

If this is the case, have you added your cert to PMS so it knows it’s safe to accept?
