DSM: DSM 7.2.1-69057 Update 4
3 Synology NAS v1.32.8.7639-7000
Within the last week I learn late in the day the Plex Server has stopped running. I click on “run” and it works fine for a period of time. I have not been able to identify the pattern as to why it stops but I will start checking every AM to identify a pattern.
I saw a closed post asking for similar help but the post closed so I could not post within. He mentioned he ended up “binding the LAN?” I am not sure what that means.
Also, a second question. Since this has now happened at least twice, and I have missed recordings, and Plex does not look back for any missed recording, I am out of luck. I hate watching episode 4 and I have skip to 6 given this problem.
Is there a notification setting for a given package, like Plex, that I can set so it will notify me if the package stops running. Or better, an option that auto restarts selected packages and I set the number of times it should try a restart?
What pms version. There is a dvr issue causing crashes with certain versions. Search and you will find several mega threads on the issue. 4.xx releases should have fixed the issue
I updated the version in my original post above. I received a notice that a version 1.40.0.7998-c29d4c0c8 was available but there were so many complaints of issues I was hesitant to upgrade. I seem to recall once you crossed over to 1.40.x versions you could not go back so there was no rush to upgrade.
Something has changed that in the last 2-3 days this event started. The last version has been in place for several weeks. I don’t see anything on the NAS Plex Media Server screen to show when I last updated but I know it has been weeks if not a month or more. So, what changed where?
I am going to monitor every morning to establish a pattern. This morning it was running so it did not cut off last night…
Spend hours and days trying to figure that out or just back up your database and upgrade to 1.4. you can then downgrade back and restore your database if something fails. Takes all of 2 minutes.
You can’t downgrade back to a much older version of Plex but I don’t recall what version that is. Check the release notes. Unless you haven’t updating in many months you will be able to roll back to what you are on now. Good luck.

Appreciate that is somewhat skewed by the fact there are untold numbers of users who experienced zero issues that you aren’t seeing post that everything went well. That’s not to diminish the issues seen by some when 140.0.7998 went public, but it is still noteworthy that when the first 140.x.xxxx version was released into Beta there were very few (if any) issues reported that I saw.
The next time PMS stops:
Restart PMS
Wait 3 minutes for it to fully start & log the startup sequence.
Pull the log files (Settings → Troubleshooting) and upload them to the thread.
Thank you everyone for your replies. It shut down again this afternoon but it had a message wanting me to confirm an insecure connection. I am not sure it is the same thing. Furthermore, I am not sure why out of 1+ years I am seeing this message, although I did switch out my ISP modem. Something else for me to research as Plex is on the same modem ip default.
