Software Version - DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 6
Plex Server Version 1.40.0.7998
I want to use my usb as the transcode location, I dont know what is the correct way to set this up then test that it is being used.
The pathname you need for PMS is based on whether USB1 or USB2
The name isn’t cryptic - /volumeUSB1 for usbshare1 and /volumeUSB2 for usbshare2
Here’s what it looks like in Linux (SSH login to the Syno)
I have 1 drive connected.

Thanks, I’ve been trying to see if I’ve done this correctly but I don’t see files in my transcode folder while its transcoding.
anyone who can help with info id really appreciate it, there must be a simple step ive missed
Have you confirmed that System Internal User PlexMediaServer has RW access?
The default settings would not allow it
I believe so but as I can not get it to work I must have missed something these are the share rules I set
I can find the share on the server interface
i can add files as a test
and they are found as a test

You need to do this procedure.
– You add up how many folders your media is using
– Round that number up to the next even multiple of 32768
– Create and run a Task Scheduler script to do the configuration for you.

In addition to correcting the Notify errors…
The transcoder temp directory is used by Plex Media Server when transcoding.
Do not place any media there. Do not add it to a Plex library. Your screenshots show you have done both.
ok thanks, those files where there as a test to see if plex had access to the drive, i have removed them now.

Yes. 32768 will work well for you. It can be cut to 16384 but that’s not leaving you much room.

Yes, you’re OK to set it at 32768.
You’ll only be using 49.1 MB of memory, locked, for the table and paths.

I had miscalculated earlier. Based on 65536, your maximum memory usage for this is 99MB. The actual amount will depend on the length of each path but I’ve calculated based on maximum path length of 1K each (most are well less than 512). You should still be well positioned in the 50-75MB usage range.

I have made the changes, atm no media is being watched, but intro are being found on new media. Under console I am getting this I will attach logs is the the same problem or different?
