It’s complaining because of the Plex share. The error message is very specific.
The steps it gives you are also specific. You must perform those steps in the given sequence if you wish to migrate your existing PMS installation to DSM 7.
You might want to screenshot the procedure it prints so you have it to refer to ?
Here are the screenshots to verify what you should have after performing the steps in the migration permissions
Of special interest here are is establishing Full Control of the Plex share for System Internal User PlexMediaServer.
As you apply this privilege it is important that you ensure the permission changes are applied to all subfolders and files in the Plex share.
- Where you select “System Internal User” and start assigning custom.
- The resultant Full Control with “Administration” , “Read” and “Write” having been SAVE applied to all folders, sub-folders, and files.
- When the installer sees “Full Control” status on the Plex share, it will inspect deeper. If everything is correct, it will perform the migration.
a. Check all metadata for errors and correct it before migrating.
b. Check Subtitles files and Collections info - verifying internal integrity.
c. Move all the data files from “Plex” to the new DSM storage structure
d. Clean up all Plex-generated residuals in the Plex share if there.
At no point will the installer remove any user data unless it’s buried inside the “Application Support” directory. (nothing should ever be here).
Some users like to put media in “Library” (which is a common condition I take care not to erase).
The rest of the Plex share is free for everyone to use or not as they wish.
