Synology just updated to 7.0.1 server gone now

Hi I have just updated my synology server to 7.0.1 but now my server has gone. Contents are still on the server though. How do I get everything back on Plex without having to redo entire library?

  1. Confirm you have everything in the "Plex"shared folder (Library/…/Plex Media Server

  2. Uninstall the DSM 7 app — Use the ERASE option (gets rid of the DSM 7 app only)

  3. Now follow the permission-granting steps here – VERY important

  4. After you’ve granted PlexMediaServer “Full Control” of everything in the Plex share,

  5. Now you can install the DSM 7 SPK again
    – It will sit at “installing” while it works
    – be patient. It needs about 3 minutes for each 1000 files you have indexed

Here’s the full FAQ

You want “Scenario 2” …

It’s written for all cases so if a few things don’t apply – don’t worry

After you’re done, you will need to give the new username “PlexMediaServer” permission to read your media (aka. change “Plex” → “PlexMediaServer” )

ASK if you have ANY questions

My server and files are still there, but Plex is not seeing any of my files anymore. I’ve read through these forums, but haven’t seen it addressed.
I’ve added my media directory to the library, but it doesn’t seem to be importing anything.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Remember when you added ‘Plex’ to the permissions ?

DSM 7 made us change the username. (PlexMediaServer)

Go back to all your shared folders-

  1. Delete Plex
  2. Add PlexMediaServer
  3. “Apply to this folder, sub-folders, and files”

Magic will happen

When done, you can delete “Plex” user completely.
We had to abandon it

I had the same problem! Also did a similar post!
I checked the user like the below feed suggested.

@katardrax

Is it all working now?

It works! Thank you so much!
