Synology - Port in use when installing

Hopefully I’m not thread-jacking here, but I upgraded to PlexMediaServer-1.15.3.858-fbfb913f7-aarch64.spk yesterday when prompted to do so. Then, today I received another prompt to upgrade to PlexMediaServer-1.15.3.876-ad6e39743-aarch64.spk, so I did that as well.

However, after the second upgrade the Plex browser app wouldn’t connect to my server. I tried stopping and restarting the package (running a Synology DS418) a couple times with no success. Then I figured I’d rollback to .858 so I uninstalled the package and tried to reinstall .858 but when I did I received this error message.

50%20PM

I have my NAS set up with static IP address, but I’m not sure what port this is referring to.

How badly did I screw this thing up?

Edit: I see the solution here: Plex MediaServer 1.15.1.793 Failed to install

Apologies for the thread-jack. Will have to wait a while to try this as DSM is adding another disk to the array.

You were a bit. This issue isn’t related to them and much easier to deal with.

  1. Stop Plex
  2. Reboot DSM
  3. Now install.

This happens because occasionally DSM won’t let go of the port PMS uses.
Rebooting it clears it out and then it will allow the installation. It’s a DSM bug.
