Synology Time Out Solution

I ran into the problem where I install Plex on my Synology NAS and the try to open it, only to be greeted with a page time out error. I looked on this forum only to find people in the same boat but without a solution:

The answer is that you need to authorize the 32400 port on your NAS. I’m not sure why it works immediately for most people, I only assume I locked down my NAS more securely than others, or the automatic enablement didn’t occur. Anyway:

  1. Log into your NAS (with admin rights)
  2. Go to the NAS Control Panel
  3. Click on the Security Option
  4. In the ribbon, select Firewall
  5. Click on the ‘Edit Rules’ button
  6. A new ‘Create Firewall Rules’ window opens and click on the ‘Create’ button
  7. Choose ‘Custom’ radio button under Ports. Leave the Source IP to All and the Action to Allow
  8. Click on the ‘Custom’ button in the Ports ‘section’ of this window
  9. A new window opens, and choose Type: Destination Port, Protocol: All, Ports: 32400. And then hit the OK button.
  10. Hit the OK button for the ‘Create Firewall Rules’ window
  11. Hit OK for the ‘Edit Profile’ Window
  12. Hit Apply in the Firewall window

That worked for me. Good luck.
