Synology Wake From Sleep For DVR Recording

If my Synology-hosted PMS is sleeping it does not wake for a Plex DVR scheduled recording so misses the recording. Somewhat bizarrely if a recording is actually in progress and the Synology NAS hits a scheduled sleep it just stops the recording there and then.

The Synology NAS (DS1517+) does wake correctly with a WOL and will also wake or stay awake for all other scheduled or running app activity (HyperBackup, Video Station, TM, Cloud Station et al) so the issue seems to be confined to Plex.

Is there a command I am missing to enable Plex to wake the Plex Media Server or at least stop it from sleeping whilst a recording is underway?

(…clearly, for the moment, the NAS is set to run continuously to overcome this issue…)

Ok thanks, I think.

Hopefully power consumption, heat and noise is of concern to everyone. My NAS (WD-Red + Samsung SSDs) and UPS usually run 24-hours a day, but if I am away for weeks or months I have little need to keep everything powered if there was a way around it.

I’ll probably get around this Synology limitation by using another device to kick the NAS from its slumber with a WOL packet.
