Hello

Is it true that keeping the windows 10 plex open all the time in the systray consumes processor power?
making other programs I’m using slow?

if yes :
How do I proceed then?
turn off the plex from the system tray and turn it back on as you start any program when I’m going to use it?

Plex is a media server which can be accessed by several clients, sometimes concurrently.

But even if it’s not serving media to Plex clients, it can be busy doing its home work, like Why is 'Plex Transcoder' using my CPU when nothing is playing? | Plex Support
Or Scheduled Tasks | Plex Support
Some of these tasks are producing a higher load on your computer, some are negligible.

So yes, if you need your computer’s full resources (e.g. if you want to play a game) then you might want to end the Plex server, if you want to make sure that it doesn’t interfere.

can I turn off the plex from my computer and turn it on only when I use it?

That’s your choice.
But keep in mind that Plex does need to run its maintenance routine at least from time to time. So allow it to do that every once in a while.
