Constant background CPU usage wasting energy and performance

Server Version: 1.29.0.6244
Player Version: 1.55.0.3278-c6164b3c
OS: Windows 10

Actual behavior:
Plex has a constant ~1-5% CPU usage despite not being in focus. It happens when it is in fullscreen mode, maximized, and window mode, but it doesn’t happen when the window is minimized.

Expected behavior:
~0% CPU usage similar to other applications, e.g. chrome.

Are you keeping the app on the Home Page? If so, this is expected. When the app is on the home page, it is in constant talk to your available servers so it can know if the page needs to be updated. Otherwise the content on the page can get old. i.e. You watch something on another Plex client so the Continue Watching row should change. Or adding new content to your server and the Recently Added row will need to change. When minimized, it doesn’t do this check. It will check when the window is restored.

I usually keep the app in fullscreen mode on the home screen but use the multiple desktops feature of Windows to switch to something else. Maybe it would be possible to detect this, because it seems kind of unnecessary to keep updating it when it’s not even visible, or a small time delay between updates because even if it is visible, they don’t really seem beneficiary, considering the drawbacks.

This is nothing compared to my player. This is doing nothing. Hope you sort this out, have to use low quality setting in the player to even play 4k without stuttering. Web/VLC/Madvr has no trouble at about 10-20% utilization playing the same content.
