Teen Titans Go! Metadata does not match TVDB

A little frustrating but Season 8 of Teen Titans Go! is showing incorrectly in Plex. As an example, TVDB has the first episode as ‘Welcome to Halloween’, whereas Plex shows it as ‘Looking for Love’ (which is actually S08E03).

This is confusing me as I’ve no idea how to correct Plex at the source, and it’s affecting my kids enjoyment as the shows appear in the wrong order and they notice as they like to read what the episode is about before jumping in.

I believe only season 8 is affected by this issue and it’s not corrected if I update the metadata on my server. In fact, even after a recent forced reinitialization of my server, it still continues with this issue.

Anyone know how this could be corrected please?

  1. Go to the show and click Edit/:pencil2:.
  2. Go to the Advanced tab
  3. Set the episode order of the show to match your preference / file naming

Hey Tom,

I know you’re trying to be helpful and this sounds like the easy band-aid fix however, there’s 37 episodes in Season 8, for which none match TVDB, that means updating the title, synopsis, and all relevant detail associated 37 times. And that’s only if they don’t add more as a normal season is 52 episodes.

As I’m sure you appreciate, the work involved to do this rolls into several days effort, and even then, it only updates some and not all, as some metadata, you cannot change.

Also, when updating, you have to ensure everything you update is locked down as otherwise, the next time you refresh the library, all your work is for nothing.

But if you lock it down, you won’t know when Plex fixes it’s own issue, and if you have any issues with the server, the files will reset anyway.

So yeah, if this was one movie, maybe, but not an entire season of a show where Plex is in error and not accurate to TVDB.

Plex should really look into why this, and other shows noted within the community are not accurately labelled when referencing against TVDB, TMDB, & IMDB. Especially given we no longer have the ability to choose those databases to align our files to.

The described approach applies to the show record… not a season or individual episodes.
1 change/update

Edit: and to be super precise… it’s 1 change to reflect your choice of episode ordering… not to fix something that’s otherwise broken.

@tom80H isn’t asking you to manually update the metadata for 37 episodes. They’re asking you to set the episode ordering for the series to be “TheTVDB (Aired)” in the series’ settings.

So:

  1. Go to your library which contains the show.
  2. Hover over the shows poster with your mouse.
  3. Click the pencil icon in the bottom-left of the poster.
  4. Go to the Advanced tab.
  5. Find the “Episode ordering” setting.
  6. Select “TheTVDB (Aired)” from the drop-down list.
  7. Click the Save button.

After doing so, Plex will reorder the episodes according to what TheTVDB has listed for its aired order. If for some reason it does not, refresh metadata for the show.

Edit: Oops, ninja’d by the Ninja.

Thanks @tom80H & @pshanew for your help here. That’s a setting I never knew before so I’m now gonna use it to update a couple of others I’ve spotted.

All the best,
Michael.
